ConSuite

I must admit, I had a blast in Con Suite at Arisia. I had volunteered to put in 12 hour (or so) and wound up doing a lot more: playing organizational force and last minute recruiter.

There are many, many, many wonderful supportive people to be found among the staff, the dealers and the con-goers. Each and every one of you made my day: Thank you! All night Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I had the needed support (and check-ins) from those in the know and those that simply cared. Various people listened supportively, hugged me, fed me, rubbed my back, and generally helped keep it all going. It would not have been possible with out you.

Yup, there were things that could have gone smoother with a bit of planning. But when it is too late, it is too late and there is nothing to do but make lemonade. Thanks to those of you who listened to me on this subject. I hope my ramblings were if not constructive, entertaining in a gee-she-really-needs-sleep sort of way.

So, next year, I guess I'll volunteer to help earlier and set aside time to help before hand. If needed I'll take lead on Con Suite. I firmly believe that earlier planning will make for smoother sailing and more opportunities for sleeping.

And now for the shameless plug: if you are reading this and would like to help with the party in Con Suite, please reply and say so. I'll make sure you are on the list. Heck, you know you'll be there anyway, why not help choose the snacks and earn free admission?

Many thanks to all.

I'd like to thank all the wonderful people at Arisia this year for putting on another wonderful convention.

Thank you also to all the nice Masquerade and Tech staff for putting up with such a newbie to the Masquerade (well, going solo anyway), as I ran around like a complete spaz preparing for it.

Thank you to for the nice guy in the internet room with the "Republicans for Voldemort" sticker on his laptop for burning that CD for me so I could have sound for the Masquerade.

Thank you to the nice lady who gave me fabric to cover my chest with under my costume so I wouldn't have a wardrobe malfunction.

Thank you to den mommy number four!

If anyone is curious, I was entry number twelve, The Lost Boy. Yellow top, black pants, red umbrella, got a good laugh from the audience. ^_^ But I'm really a girl!

Oh yes, and thank you for continuing to have this year after year, this was my fourth arisia. And I plan to keep on attending!

The only thing I have to gripe about (and this has NOTHING to do with the convention) is the fact that the hotel charged everyone who got snowed in the state of an emergency another night. This doesn't seem right. I think a friend of mine was going to research state law in regards to that.

Anyway, I've started to go into con withdrawal...must I wait another year? XD

I want to thank the staff of Arisia for a wonderful convention, especially in the face of a state of emergency and fire alarms. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly all weekend.

They handled all the issues surrounding the blizzard with grace and efficiency, and they deserve all possible congratulations.

I'll do a fuller conrep on my own journal.

Coat Check

I'm Kat, one of the chicks who was working the Cthulu Coat Check this weekend.

This was my first convention. I was wandering around the con looking very confused, and some lovely people pointed me towards coat check to drop off my (huge) backpack. They were swamped, I offered my services, and the rest is history!

One of the questions we had at coat check was if the tip jar was rude or not. We put it up and encouraged donations, but they were not required. If no one was offended, we might do that again next year. Good idea, or bad?

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to say I had an awesome weekend. I worked overnight Con Ops, and I wanted to thank a couple people. First, the staff den and the con suite for keeping us fed, especially overnight. Next, the massage den for relieving us of our stress. And security for dealing with all the problems that arose. And of course, everyone who made this weekend the sucess I thought it was.

If I met you at Arisia, and we didn't exchange contact information, feel free to friend me on livejournal and introduce yourself (so I know who you are). If we didn't meet at Arisia, but you wish we had, feel free to add me then too (but please introduce yourself!).

One of my fellow grad students got snowed in and couldn't make it to as much of the con as she had hoped. She is looking for any video which can be found recording 1. the masquerade on Sat. night and 2. the Higgins Armory demos done on Sunday from 11-12, in particular Antonia's demo. If anyone knows where I could locate video in any format of these two events, please contact me, tia.

Apparently, if you ask, the hotel lends out humidifiers. [livejournal.com profile] hakamadare called down for one Thursday night, and they delivered it promptly. We enjoyed breathing with relative ease, and there were no static shocks in our room. Yay! Thought others might be interested, for future years.

Here...You'll get to see the two photos I managed to get to come out ok at Arisia this year.

I had way too many lighting problems, and far too many people who would run behind someone I was taking a picture of, making it all blurry. A little politiness to folks with Cameras would be appreciated!

(Many thanks to those who did try to let me capture their costumes on film).

I probably don't need to say this, but it would be cool if anyone who writes a report of any sort on the con would post a link to their report here, in the Arisia LJ. I'd hate to miss any of them.

Still working on mine!
