Food trucks will be returning to Arisia!

After their stellar reception at Arisia 2014, The Taco Truck and Mei Mei Street Kitchen will be returning.

Look for them outside of the Grand Concourse on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 11am-4:30pm.

Someone from hotel security informed me that they found a block of cheese sitting at the hotel's lobby bar when they opened this afternoon. If you misplaced your cheese, please contact the hotel's lost-and-found. They are storing it in a refrigerator.

Does anyone know if there will be a microwave in the Con Suit or anywhere else in the hotel?

There will be a dinner shuttle to Faneuil Hall Marketplace from 6pm - 11pm. The shuttle will pickup/drop off across from the McDonald's at Quincy Market. The last bus will leave Quincy Market at 11pm.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace is a large hall with a collection of small food stands, large restaurants, and shops.

ETA: Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Last year, I asked for suggestions for restaurants that serve food after 1am, and I got lots of good suggestions. If you have any more suggestions (or feedback on places on the list), I would appreciate them.

While the Westin has said that they'll keep their restaurant (Sauciety) open until 2am and their Starbucks open 24 hours along with providing a 24-hour food cart in the lobby, I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for any restaurants open after 1am?

Any other suggestions or recommendations?

Edit: added Ginza and LTK

Come join us for a Breakfast Buffet with your favorite Guest of Honor or special guest!

The Breakfast Buffet will be Sunday morning (January 16, 2011) at 11AM.

Tickets for the Breakfast Buffet are $35 and now available on our site.

This will be a great opportunity at the convention to sit down and chat with your choice of a fannish "person of interest," such as one of our Guests of Honor. In total, we plan to have 12 tables of 8 persons each; at each table will be a special guest. We are currently working with Programming to identify and schedule the special participants. As soon as that is done, we will be sending out a notification to all those who have already purchased their banquet tickets so they can identify their top four choices of tables. This is definitely a first-come, first-served event, so buy your ticket early if you want to make sure you get your top choice!

We're pleased to announce our list of special guests at the Breakfast.

As Arisia approaches is it true that all the resteraunts at the Westin Waterfront are super expensive?

Any reasonable places nearby to get food?
[identity profile] sinboy.livejournal.com
Hi Arisians.

As the con gets closer, Staff den and Green Room would like to offer some of you an opportunity to get in volunteer hours *before the con starts*. We need people who have experience in food service, ans understand food safety to help us prepare meals for guests and staff. If you've worked in a kitchen, as a caterer, or have a food safety certification, we'd like your help cooking.

Work done before the convention can count towards this years membership if you don't have one, instead of next years membership, and no matter how much time you put in, that's more time at con you can spend doing whatever you want. If you're broke, and want to go to the con but can't afford to, give us 12 hours pre-con, and you get in for free. Keep in mind that this is only for people who have the necessary experience.

We also need food-safe and experienced types to help out at the con itself. This job gives you not only a warm, happy glow that comes form feeding people, but also a meal. Our staff eats well, and free.

If you're interested, please email joshjasper.nyc at gmail.com and we can work out when you'll be able to help.

Thanks, and see you all at the con!

We're looking for a commercial or church kitchen in the Boston area where we can cook for the green room and staff den. (Please don't offer us your home kitchen unless you have at least two ovens and a walk-in fridge; we really need a pro-sized space!) Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

At midnight tonight through OpenTable, there will be a number of 50% discounted vouchers for Aura Restaurant, a fine dining establishment about a 5 minute walk from the Westin Waterfront. $25 will get you $50 at the establishment (usable only in groups of 2 or more; their prices are such that this is akin to getting one of the entrees free).

This is obviously not a 'dining like fen' experience, but if Arisians want to have a fine dining experience while here, I figured I'd give the heads up, especially to those of you who might not be in the Boston area.

(there is no referral bonus or anything for OpenTable before anyone asks; I just enjoy finding deals and sharing them - it's part of the skillset that ties into why I love running the freebie table so much)

No plan totally survives meeting the enemy, of course, but here's what I intend to cook up for next weekend:
ExpandMoar foods! We mus hav moar! )

I have been spamming the staff list for weeks, asking about food requirements of attendees at the Relaxacon. If you're coming but (for some reason) not on the staff list, please talk with me asap if you have allergies of concern. There's still time to change some of this menu, if necessary, but time is awfully short at this point.

Edited to add: We may not have the hospitality house in time to have lunch
there on Friday, let alone set up for lunch ahead of time, so I am
scratching that part of the menu. (This will also help me stay in
budget, hopefully.) Those who are showing up Friday morning or
afternoon are welcome to snack on things with me while helping set up
and cook Friday's dinner. :)

The gluten-free milk-free old-fashioned cinnamon cookies are done. I used the Gluten-Free Pantry's mix, adding eggs, gluten-free vanilla, palm oil shortening, and soy margarine to make the batter, and rolling them in cinnamon and light-brown sugar. They came out wonderfully light and airy. I wonder how they'll taste when they've finished cooling. I'll just have to try another one when they're cooler. ;-)

Next up: Gluten-free milk-free chocolate chip mini-muffins (in between laundry loads)

Tomorrow: Gluten-free milk-free apple-cinnamon quickbread, if I have time.
