Arisia has consistently been wonderfully welcoming to the Heinlein Society and the Massachusetts General Hospital Bloodmobile staff. Thanks to all who helped the blood drive to another success! For years now we've danced at the maximum number of donors MGH can handle with one bus and one team. Expanding to two of their teams is possible, as is getting one from another hospital, like Children's, to expand. Yes, it's true, Sundays and holidays are out for MGH. I'm inquiring about other local bloodmobile operators to find out if Sunday might be possible, as many seem to think there are many potential donors who will have taken care of themselves well enough to donate on Sunday and find they can't on Saturday.

What matters in this is when additional donors, if any, will find it convenient enough to actually donate. If you are one of those who would donate, but just haven't been able to, please let us know your preferences. Please bear in mind that adding Sunday will significantly increase the need for recruiters and volunteers, who are much in demand as is. Thanks!

I missed the video content--I spent very little time at-con in the room not sleeping, and it was only late in the con when I was running from A to B that I noticed the Arisia TV broadcast playing in the lobby.

If any of the ArisiaTV or other Arisian video content will be posted online, I'd be thrilled if people would post the links here in the community or to the Arisia web-site.

There were a handful of pieces that had winning bids but were never picked up (and paid for); I'll be contacting the winning bidders shortly but if you suspect you won artwork but haven't picked it up, please send email to artshow (at) arisia (dot) org saying which piece you bid on and contact information and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

If a piece isn't picked up, it will be sent back to the artist; since the artist will be expecting money, this will make them sad and eventually they won't display at Arisia and no one will be able to buy their art and they'll sink into a major funk and get thrown out of their apartment and end up living in the street unable to obey their muse.

And we certainly don't want that!

I loved it! Someone was taping it so please please please if you read this put it up on YouTUBE. I want to remember that forever. I was laughing so hard and the energy in that room was amazing. Panelists get a big thumbs up from me for being so down to Earth and energetic!

So, it looks like I can (and will, at least for Friday, and hopefully more - I think the reservation is for 2 nights, and I expect they'd extend for the 3rd) have a room... currently, it's a room to myself. I'd really like to NOT have a room to myself.

Are you looking for a room-share? At this time, I think I have a bed and some floor.

Talk to me!
(Preference given to those who know me. Non-smokers only, please.)

Online registration will be closing early afternoon on Thursday as we shut down the system, back up the data and move to the hotel!

If you miss your opportunity to buy your weekend membership online, be sure to check the website before heading to the hotel.

See you in a few days!

I will once again be leading yoga Saturday and Sunday mornings at the con so wanted to remind anyone who might be interested that, though we plan to provide towels and/or blankets, those of you who've attended in the past know how plans can go awry, so if you aren't bringing your own mat, you may want to bring a couple of towels from your room just in case. Also note that we are starting a little earlier: 8:30a (eek) and will run just over an hour. If that's not enough inner peace, you can go right from there to walk the labyrinth (Sat & Sun 10-11a and Sun 6-8p).

If you know you will be at yoga and have any special requests or concerns you'd like to address ahead of time, feel free to leave a comment or drop me a note. As always, it will be "all-levels", so don't ask for Crow. :)

Saturday and Sunday at 2-3p will be the official Arisia stair climb: Summit Mt. Arisia! Start at the bottom and receive a ribbon when you reach the top. This year's climb is dedicated to the memory of the very recently departed Sir Edmund Hillary, who I hope would smile if he knew.

(I'm also co-hosting the Geocaching BoF, but Eric has already promoted that. I'm starting to sense a pattern to my activities this year...)

--

And speaking of assorted physical activity and the con, does anyone know if the Pats game will be on somewhere? I'll be busy for most of it, but I'd love to tune in when I can and I know many others are looking for the same. I know it's been done before, but, not being a football fan, I never cared to find out. This year I've been sucked in despite myself.

Have you registered yet? We will have Friday* one-day memberships available at the con (we'll re-visit this subject POST con, thank you). We may even have some full weekend memberships available early on Friday. But your best bet is to buy your weekend membership now.

*We'll almost assuredly have Sunday and Monday one-day comps erm, memberships available for purchase on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

See you soon!

I can't believe that we're down to counting _days_ until the con. Registrations are selling briskly, so be sure to get yours NOW. We don't expect to have a lot (if any) weekend registrations to sell at the door (similar to last year), so your best bet is to buy it ahead of time.

Just to clarify, the problem with the elevators last year has to do with the doors.

If you hold the door open with anything other than the "door open" butotn, then it mucks with the elevator mechanisms and can bump the door out of its track.

If you lean against the doors, it mucks with the elevator mechanisms and can bump the door out of its track.

So, don't touch the doors. Ever. Use the "door open" button.

We'll be posting signs at the con, but if you start spreading the word, that'll help too.

The deadline for submitting reservation requests for the Art Show is November 15, 2007 and it's fast approaching. Any requests post-marked after that date will be handled on an "as available" basis which means you're less likely to get the panels or tables you want. So get those forms in now!

More information and links to forms can be found here.

Arisia is fast approaching. Amazing how that just sneaks up on you.

Have you reserved your hotel room? If not, the main hotel is nearly filled up (only King sized beds left on Sat).

Also, don't forget to get your registration ahead of time. Rates go up on January 1st.

Lastly, the volunteer t-shirt is fabulous and you're going to want one of your own. The only way to get it is by volunteering for 8* hours. :D We have a lot of openings, so visit the Arisia site and see if there's something you'd like to help out with.

See you there,
[livejournal.com profile] jasra

*8 hours! 12 gets you in free next year. Ooops!

The hotel is filling up so if you want a room in the main hotel, don't dawdle!

Also, late on Sept 30th or early on Oct 1st (depends when I'm awake), the rates for preregistration go up as well. $50 instead of $40. We are expecting to sell most of our memberships pre-con.
