Dunno if this is a good place to post this, but I figured it couldn't hurt.

I was in the masquerade this year, but had to leave this morning (to catch my flight) without collecting my certificates (won two awards) or my little flash drive (blue flip thing with only 2 Gbs). Is there any way for me to get those items by mail?

I was the Darkwing Duck, BTW. ;)

Greetings to Arisia Masquerade past participants, prospective participants, Costumers, Cosplayers, friends and family!

The 2013 Arisia Masquerade staff want you to know about the great things happening for this year's Masquerade.

The major thing we want to you all to know is that the Masquerade has moved to SUNDAY NIGHT!!!  Yes, Sunday night at 8pm with doors opening at 7pm.  This will give us more opportunity for longer rehearsal times and more entrants, tentatively capped at 42, and have an even bigger and better Masquerade than ever before!!!

Next we want you to know is that the Masquerade Rules and the Masquerade Registration Form are online at http://2013.arisia.org/masqRules and http://2013.arisia.org/masqSignup.

Please read the Rules thoroughly so you can best plan your masquerade presentation and be able to fill out the form with as much information as you can to help us plan the rehearsals and the show.  Please indicate which rehearsal time slot on Saturday (10am-2pm) you prefer. If you are a novice or a large group you should consider a slot for Saturday.  This will help us plan out the rehearsal schedule in advance.  There will be Sunday slots as well (available at-con), but at this time we are only offering the Saturday slots for online signup. Please note also that all entrants MUST check in with the Masquerade Registration desk during our registration hours BEFORE rehearsals to ensure your spot on the schedule. Talking to our Tech crew at the Registration table in advance about your presentation will also mean that you will have more time during your rehearsal slot for actual rehearsing!

The Hotel Reservations page is online for the Westin Waterfront and the overflow hotel so book your rooms now before it fills up! http://2013.arisia.org/Hotel

Lastly, the Masquerade also needs your help with many volunteer positions like Ushers, Green Room wranglers, Den Moms, and Stage Ninjas, We need help during rehearsals and before, during, and after the Masquerade.  Earn your hours for the next Arisia by volunteering!!!

Thank you and we hope that you will consider participating in whatever capacity you can for the 2013 Arisia Masquerade.  And remember, the show is on Sunday night!  Tell your friends!  Tell your roommates!

Please contact us at masquerade@arisia.org if you have any questions.

Masq Director reports seven entrants signed up in the first week. Last year, masq filled up and had to turn people away. If you know you want to be in the masquerade please register as early as you are confident you can.

Remember that masquerade is Sunday night this year - plan your hotel room nights accordingly.

This year, the Masquerade will be performed on Sunday night, January 20th, instead of Saturday night. The bulk of rehearsals will still be on Saturday.

More details will soon be posted on the Masquerade page.

Please check out our Masquerade page for information and rules.

Also, we have these 2 important notices!

Due to technical difficulties, there is no online registration this year. Forms will be available at the Masquerade Registration table Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning. Tech rehearsals will be scheduled for Saturday afternoon from 1-5 pm. You can not enter the Masquerade without registering and attending your tech rehearsal.

The sound Gurus have asked that music for the masquerade entries be submitted on USB as an uncompressed wave file, by preference. If pressed, they will accept CDs, but would like those to be pre-edited, not commercial disks.

The Masquerade is a costume contest and display of creativity by your fellow convention members. Entrants may dress in anything interesting and fun so long as they can motor themselves across the stage and back. You'll find a variety of BEMs (Bug Eyed Monsters!), Transformers, faeries, royals, dragons, cosplayers (anime-inspired costumes), movie and TV characters, and just plain silly people in costume. This is a judged event and is a highlight of Arisia. If you're not competing, come see the fabulous display of creativity by your fellow fen. All entries are judged in three separate categories (Novice, Journeyman, and Craftsman/ Master) to give everyone a fair chance.

Online Masquerade signup is now open!

So, I've een waiting very patiently, which is very hard for me to do, and I haven't seen or heard any news about when this year's masquerade dvd will be available.  Did I miss something, or is it still up in the air?

thanks so much <3

I checked in both Saturday and Sunday nights at midnight on the con channel at the hotel where the masquerade was supposed to be shown and didn't see it either night.

Is there masquerade video and does someone have a copy I could see... I most understandably would like to see our costume, The Lady Cassandra, since we were in sunglasses and really couldn't see much at all while we were up on stage. I'd like to see the rest of the masquerade as well, though because the feed up to the Green room was pretty bad, practically no sound and very fuzzy.

Let me know...

This year's Arisia had several entries in the Masquerade but they seemed to come in a rush in the last month or so. This year's Balticon had approximately 20 entries, as opposed to some previous years when it was double that number. I thought it a fluke at first but after talking with some costumers it seems to be that less and less people are participating in Masquerades. I don't know if it's a Northeast thing, or that a majority of the diehards have decided to take a break for a few years. Everyone I talk to seems to have a different theory on the downward trend in costumers at the regional cons. So I ask both costumers and costume-viewers alike, why do you think this is happening and what can be done to fix it?
