- Feedback from panelists about their various panels, workshops or events
- General feedback about the con (what was YOUR favorite panel? what was good this year? what wasn't so good? etc)
Plus you can email us directly at feedback at arisia dot org!
Comments disabled to encourage use of the above forms.
ETA: Ok, NOW the comments are disabled. :D Post con-brain hit!

Please check out our Masquerade page for information and rules.
Also, we have these 2 important notices!
Due to technical difficulties, there is no online registration this year. Forms will be available at the Masquerade Registration table Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning. Tech rehearsals will be scheduled for Saturday afternoon from 1-5 pm. You can not enter the Masquerade without registering and attending your tech rehearsal.
The sound Gurus have asked that music for the masquerade entries be submitted on USB as an uncompressed wave file, by preference. If pressed, they will accept CDs, but would like those to be pre-edited, not commercial disks.

Roommates Needed
Jan. 8th, 2012 10:42 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
I have a room with two double beds at the Westin for Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights and am looking for two roommates (total of 4 people in the room). I am looking for people who will be there for all three nights. The total cost of the room is $144/night plus tax (approx 14.5%) plus a tip for the housekeeper.
The room was filled but now two people have reneged.
I am a male in my 40's. I have been attending Arisia for 7 years and am there both to learn at panels and to have fun socializing, parties, shows etc. I have lived in the Boston area most of my life and am a great resource of knowledge. I am a non smoker, do not do any drugs. At Arisia I usually will go to bed midnight to 3 AM and get up about 8 hours later.
If you are looking for space and think we would be compatible, please email me (remove the spaces, fix the symbols). math mw hyphen lj at yahoo

two interesting smartphone apps
Jan. 8th, 2012 03:39 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
If you have a smartphone or similar device, you may be interested in two apps that will help you get around the neighborhood.
The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority has put together a free app called myBCEC which includes a bunch of area information, including directions to the facility (which are the same as directions to the Westin), traffic and transit warnings, and most usefully a map of local restaurants. This app is available in the app stores for iPhone, Blackberry, Android, and iPad.
Best Parking has a parking lot finder app which shows pricing and other details for parking lots on a map. Choose "Seaport District" from the list of Boston neighborhoods. On my phone, this comes up zoomed in too far to see a couple of $6/day parking lots on Drydock Ave to the east of the hotel -- they don't have in/out privileges, and they're a long enough walk that you might want to take the Silver Line instead, but that's a good rate and the Silver Line does stop right there.

Attendee wifi

Hi,
Is wifi going to be available in the convention space? I've got people asking me if my panels will be recorded - I ustreamed a couple of panels at Anime Boston last year to great effect, would like to again if wifi is free or cheap.

Backup Project at Arisia!
Jan. 4th, 2012 09:27 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
(crossposted from
backupproject and my LJ.)
The Backup Project has a fan table at Arisia! We will have buttons! And flyers!
All we need is people!
The fan tables need to be staffed as many hours as possible between 10am-6pm, Friday-Sunday, with special emphasis on Saturday. If you can take a shift, please let me know! Many hands make light work and all of that. Yes, Gentlemen's Auxiliary totally welcome.
Also of interest: I'll be running a panel on sexual harassment and assault in fandom at 5:30pm on Saturday, with
cluegirl,
asim, and
sweetmmeblue. And if you have teenagers who attend the con, send them to the teen lounge at 4pm Saturday for a workshop on con safety and social change!

Shuttle to Memorial for Badger
Jan. 4th, 2012 03:06 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Arisia is considering hiring a shuttle to take people to the memorial service for Badger at MIT on Friday (1/13). To help us figure out what size van or bus we might need, please let us know if you might like a ride from the Westin to the service and/or back from MIT to the Westin.

Hello Arisia Attendees!
Reminisce for a moment about Arisia past -- perhaps you remember your trip to Never-Never-Land, or when we met the Robots at their exciting party last year? The producers of these fun and entertaining events are at it again! We wish to extend an invitation to you. Take off your hat and put on your space helmets, step on board the rocket, because this year we are traveling to --
ALIEN WORLDS!
Yes, my friends.... This year we take off on the I.S.S.S. Arisia and begin our tour of the interstellosphere. Be entranced by guests from the planet Blixel. Meet your counterpart from the moons of Zorch! Wonder in amazement how we actually got the sentient cloud-forms from Jupiter to make an appearance!
This Saturday party is fun for the whole family! From 8PM through till dawn on Charon, we are visiting thrilling and unique alien landscapes. There is no alcohol on our spaceship, because we don't want to get pulled over by the Kepler Kops, so it is open to all ages.
We may even have special guest performance from a very special Earthling, Kelsey Jarboe. Her website can be found at: http://www.toomanyfeelings.com/
Of course it is impossible to make this journey without the support of the community, and therefore we are obliged to ask for help with a few things:
We are looking for old Christmas lights for decoration, with preference to the high density grids or icicle lights. We can pick them up anywhere in the Boston area.
As running a space ship is expensive, we are also obliged to ask for donations. Including room, decor, and food, rocket propellant, extra Oxygen, Universal Translators, and a whole bunch of other nuts and bolts (usually metric), running a party can cost in excess of $400.
You can paypal me at watermosaic [at] gmail [dot] com. We will be incredibly thankful, and you will be part of a great community effort.

Westin Reservation Available
Jan. 3rd, 2012 12:01 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Hello all!
Unfortunately life has gotten all wonky and my bf and I are going to have to do Arisia Day Trips this year, so I'm going to be giving up my Fri-Mon reservation for a double double at the Westin.
Anyone intersted in taking the reservation, email me at violet (dot) helix (at) gmail (dot) com. If I don't get any takers by Friday Jan 6, I will just cancel it.
Edit: I have contacted Innkeeper, so that the room will go to someone on the waiting list.

Miniatures Painting Contest
Jan. 3rd, 2012 11:20 am![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Just in case people missed it, I wanted to call attention to our first ever miniatures painting contest. The contest is Monday morning at 10:00am - 11:00am in Paine. We have some excellent prize support from Reaper, so come give it a try. We are also offering a prize for young participants so don't stay away thinking you can't compete with the adults.
Anybody with an Arisia membership is welcome to come see the miniatures and vote. Lots of voting will make for a great contest. Don't leave it to the contestants to decide their own fate!
If you want to enter, you should preregister at the program nexus. Monday morning, please try to arrive by 9:45, so that we can get your miniature on display, and you will need to be there at 11:00 to pick up your entries and any prizes. We are not responsible for unclaimed miniatures.
You can find detailed rules here.

Thanks, and I am looking forward to seeing your miniatures.

Microwave?

Does anyone know if there will be a microwave in the Con Suit or anywhere else in the hotel?
