Hi,

Some of the videos produced by Arisia tech are now available:

PMRP -- Dr. Who: Starship of Madness: vimeo.com/19342207

Geeky Belly Dancing -- part1: http://vimeo.com/19314749 part2: http://vimeo.com/19342706

We also shot Jude & Derek's wedding and the Masquerade.  I expect the wedding will be available shortly.  I don't know whether the Masq. will be available on vimeo because it will be available as a DVD.

Room share

I'm looking for 2 more roommates to share a Double--I've got one already, but it's far more manageable to split costs 4 ways. I know, with the larger hotel, space isn't at a premium as it was in the last one, but cost is still an issue.

The caveat is that I'm running the belly dance show on Sunday, and would need to use the room most of Sunday afternoon for the dancers to store their stuff and prepare--if you're sleeping during the day, it might not work. If glitter makes you break out in hives, this may not be the room share for you.

Please let me know if you know of anyone. Thanks so much!

Here is a recording of the live, switched IMAG of the Geeky Bellydancing performance from Sunday, January 16, 2010, at 5:00pm.  It was produced by Arisia tech. http://www.vimeo.com/8930741

Now it looks like the videographer from The Phoenix has posted videos from the bellydance show:

The Phonenix has posted photos from Arisia on its website, including several from the Masquerade:

Hello all you lovely fen. Hopefully you've recovered (mostly) from your weekend of con goodness.

I organized the belly dance show on Sunday, and I come to you seeking feedback.

I think it went rather well, but this was not due to my mad skillz as organizer, but rather that I had very competent and helpful Tech and Program people helping me with last minute mistakes, and very talented and patient dancers for friends.
Several things that seemed to fix issues from previous years:
We had a raised stage, so no one seemed unable to see.
And proper lighting.
And lots more room for the audience (and it was gratifying that it was still standing room only).

But after several people had approached me last year asking for a belly dance class, we didn't get much turnout for the class after. Was that because it wasn't listed in the program separately? Were the fliers posted all over the hotel any influence on your plans to attend? If so, is that not a good way to get new information about events out? What kind of things are you looking for in a dance class?

What issues did you have about the performance? Would a longer show and no class be better? Is it too much of a pain to make special seating arrangements for kids on the floor in front (yes, I know we'll be in a different hotel next year, but still)?

Also, I saw that at least 3 sources were videotaping--only one of them was someone I knew, the others were con staff and the Boston Phoenix--anyone know where I can access those at some point? Or does anyone have links to photos they took? I'll be checking the Flickr stream for Arisia, but if there are other photos floating about, we'd love to see them--there weren't enough pictures from last year!

Thanks for any help.
