The annual Arisia convention is a 100% volunteer-run con, brought to you by a dedicated group of folks JUST LIKE YOU who want to be a part of something amazing. And we're looking for new staff, returning staff, people who want to volunteer 1 hour. Or 20. Or only do pre-con volunteering. Or only at-con. Whatever level of volunteering you are interested in, Arisia has something for you to do. We have volunteer rewards, like earning swag, or a t-shirt if you put in 8+ hours. Volunteer 12 or more hours, and you also earn next year's Arisia membership.

We have an updated VOLUNTEERS WANTED page up on the Arisia 2016 website, which you can check in on. Or you can fill out a VOLUNTEER FORM to tell us what you want to do, and our hard-working Volunteers staff will try to find something for you.

But today, we are looking for volunteers for REGISTRATION. Because many of our long-time volunteers at Arisia started out "just working Reg," including this year's conchair.

Position: Registration Staff
Come join the friendly, welcoming people of Registration! As the first faces attendees see when they arrive at the convention, Registration volunteers are an incredibly important part of the Con. Reg Staff must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy helping people.
Responsibilties: money handling, customer service, work under pressure, sitting for long periods of time, using a laptop.
Time: Flexible shifts at con, training happens pre-con
Contact: Diana Hsu, reg@arisia.org

For more information on volunteering, email us at Volunteers, and/or come to one of our Open Staff Meetings. There's one today:

What: Open Staff/Convention Committee Meeting
Where:  MIT Building 66 Room 144
When: TODAY, October 13th at 7pm
Who: Anyone who has or would like to volunteer for Arisia 2016!

Hi folks,

My family is bailing on this year's Arisia. I'll happily sell our memberships (2 adult, one turtle track). Best offer gets them once the money changes hands. At that point I'll e-mail reg, which per the FAQ can transfer memberships. Please contact via my e-mail at chris.s@comcast.net rather than here. Followups to this post in LJ may be ignored.

ETA: no longer available

I have a four day registration, a king room at the Westin to share, and a round trip train ticket from Washington Union Station to Boston South Station to sell. (My room mate had a last minute work situation come up.)

Please email me at zvilikestv@gmail.com if you are interested in all or part of the above. (please, only women to share the room. )

Online Registration is closing at 11:59 pm Monday Jan 14, 2013. After that point, all registration will have to be done at the door.

Registration@arisia.org will still be available to answer questions and solve registration issues, as well as roll over memberships to next year due to the flu.

Happy Holidays Arisians!

As the convention approaches, just 14 days away now, please consider pre-registering for the convention. Your check-in process goes a lot faster if all you have to do is check in and pick up your badge, versus filling out the registration form, paying, and getting everything processed. If you pre-register on or before December 31st, the rate is only $50 for a Full or Fast Track membership, vs the $60 at-the-door rate. We will have day memberships available at the door.

This is also our reminder that anyone with a student membership, available to members aged 13-25, needs to have a current student ID when they check-in. While we understand that some middle and high schools do not issue any, please make every effort to have such with you.

If anyone has any questions about these topics or anything else registration related please check out our handy list of Frequently Asked Questions at http://2012.arisia.org/regFAQ I am also happy to address anything not covered there in the comments, and any inquiries about specific registrations or particular situations should be directed to registration(at)arisia(dot)org

Online registration for Arisia 2012 is now OPEN!

We have been working tirelessly the past few months to upgrade our registration software and streamline our registration process. While the system may look the same as last year, a few important changes have been made, including the ability to register other people through your account even if you are already registered.

We have also implemented a feature where you can link other people's accounts to your own, making registering them even easier. This is particularly helpful for parents to link their children's accounts to their own, and we encourage people to do this.

Most questions about Arisia's registration process can be found on the Arisia registration page or our updated registration FAQ, and we are, of course, happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Online Registration closes TOMORROW, Tuesday, January 11th at 7pm EST. After that time you will have to register at the door, no exceptions!

For those of you who are only planning on coming to the convention for one day (especially later in the day Saturday and Sunday) it does look like we will be close to hitting our (expanded) membership cap, so please check the website to confirm that we haven't already sold out before heading down.

If you are traveling from far away (like New Hampshire or Vermont) just for the day, and you check the website before you leave home, and it doesn't say that we have reached our membership cap, we will still let you into the convention even if that has changed by the time you arrive.

At-Con Registration hours are:

Friday: 3pm - 11pm
Saturday: 9am - 8pm
Sunday: 9am - 8pm
Monday: 9:30am - 2pm

For More information (like the at-con registration rates) please check out http://2011.arisia.org/registration

Happy Holidays Arisians!

As the convention approaches, just 16 days away now, please consider pre-registering for the convention. Your check-in process goes a lot faster if all you have to do is check in and pick up your badge, versus filling out the registration form, paying, and getting everything processed. If you pre-register on or before December 31st, the rate is only $50 for a Full, Fast Track, or "Turtle Track" (Babysitting) membership, vs the $60 at-the-door rate. We will have day memberships available at the door.

This is also our reminder that anyone with a student membership, available to members aged 13-25, needs to have a current student ID when they check-in. While we understand that some middle and high schools do not issue any, please make every effort to have such with you.

This note also serves as an announcement that we have 2-3 spaces that have opened up in Turtle Track. If you have a child between the ages of 2-6, and would like to avail yourself of Arisia's Babysitting Services, please e-mail registration(at)arisia(dot)org to get your child in.

If anyone has any questions about these topics or anything else registration related please check out our handy list of Frequently Asked Questions at http://2011.arisia.org/regFAQ I am also happy to address anything not covered there in the comments, and any specific inquiries should be directed to registration(at)arisia(dot)org

Just a couple of quick notes:

We're trying a new event on for size this year -- a breakfast buffet event with GOHs and other Special Guests (including Seanan McGuire, Cat Valente, Hildy Silverman, Frank Wu, and others)! Breakfast price is comparable to prices in the hotel restaurant, with the added bonus of cool conversation! Go to http://2011.arisia.org/buffet for tickets & more info.

Turtle Track (childcare) is currently full. To get on the waiting list, email reg@arisia.org with "Turtle Track" in the subject line. Every year, there are some cancellations, so don't despair if you haven't yet signed up, just do it asap. (Same is true for hotel reservations, actually. Last year, we ended up with a couple of empty rooms in the main hotel, due to cancellations.)

Speaking of hotel reservations: The hotel has turned off the public reservations page while we sort through the Waiting List together. We're working on an alternate solution for getting reservations into their system, but the meantime, please have patience. We expect to have a further update tomorrow night, after more conferring with the hotel.

The long wait for online registration to open is now over! "What took so long?" many of you may be asking. Well, we have an all new public interface for our registration system, which is going to cut down on the amount of data entry the registration staff has to do. In addition, you can log into your registration account at any time to do self-service change of address, badge name changes, and check to make sure you bought a registration.

If you have been to Arisia before, even if it's been a very long time, you already have an account. Please chose the "forgot password" option on the right hand side of the screen instead of creating a new account.

More information on the different registration types can be found on the Arisia website at http://2011.arisia.org/registration or you can proceed directly to the online registration page at http://arisia.stonekeep.com If you have any questions, problems, or feedback, please don't hesitate to send them to us at registration@arisia.org

Thanks!
