This Arisia had something of a "nibbled to death by ducks" feeling, as far too many little things went wrong. The elevators were too fragile, an escalator died, the space was too small, there were thefts from the Art Show, etc., etc. But they somehow managed to keep these minor disasters from turning into major disasters, and the con went quite smoothly on the whole, an especially difficult task in a new hotel. I hope we do as well next month with Boskone (and have fewer problems to challenge us!).

Personally, I had a very good time. I loved doing keyboard for the silent movie, enjoyed the program items I went to (especially the Higgins Armory demos), and had a good time at the filk.

It was unfortunate that the choice of "Filk Guest" was someone who barely has an interest in filk (though he did put in appearances in the filkroom), but I knew that coming in, so it wasn't a disappointment at the con. Ellen put together an excellent filk program.

I'm looking forward to next year.

Just curious if anyone saw if the reporter that was floating around Arisia actually got her article in or not. I didn't see it but I recieve the north shore version. She took quite a few photos of me and want to send it home to my parents in Ohio if I did show up.

Also anyone get any photos they would like to share? I forgot my camera at home and didn't get any pictures of myself or anyone else.

I was the fairy with the gigantic wings and also the cowgirl. If anyone has photos they would be greatly appriciated :)

Take care!

So on Sunday I wandered through the Presidents A after juggling had ended, and caught a bit of the MST3k-ified Luke Ski bits. The movie playing was an _AWFUL_ modern dragon-ish movie. The productioin quality was high, but the story and acting and... ung. Terrible. Perfect fodder for MST3k.

But what was the movie? Anyone know?

-I have pictures up over in my journal.

-And, just to weigh in on what appears to be the Big Issue: Overall, I was pleased with the hotel.

Saturday afternoon I was dressed as Arisia at Arisia. If anyone got a picture of me, could you please send a copy my way? Thank you!

I don't know if they're wed or just together, but a very nice red haired woman named Stephanie (who is obviously not me, though I am a red haired woman named Stephanie). She has a picture of Johnny Zed, riding a hotel chair like a pony (ahem) during one one of several of his chair dancing moments during the dead dog, and I want it.

To say the least! ;-)

my email is thespian at sleepingcat dot com if she's not obviously online somewhere and you instead have her email address.

Are any of the people who were taking photos at the Skanks in Space party on here? I would love to see them and I know there were a couple of awesome ones of me that I'd really like to get a copy of.

I was the girl in the red vinyl skirt with the vibrating ray gun.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for yet another great Arisia! Hopefully next year the elevators will work! Anyone snap pictures of me in my great kilt?

Thanks!

Someone you saw and didn't get their contact information; or worse you got their contact information but lost it? Why not post here and see if someone can help!

A post about the skanks in space party.   I know it was an issue in the gripe session.    It also has been an issue with some of my blogging friends.   Apparently, the hosts of the party were informed of the issues.     I think they realize the party had raised some issues.

What if anything can they do different next year?

By which I do not mean tell them to not have the party.    Yes, not advertise in the future has already been made clear to them.

Wow! Fast Track. This was Quinn's first year as a "legitimate" Fast Track satellite. It was bittersweet to say farewoll to babysitting. I have such fond memories of Quinn's positive experiences in Arisia baby-sitting. Between Arisias, we would often talk about "the Boston Hotel" [meaning the Park Plaza]. I knew he was mainly talking about baby-sitting.

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] persis. My one regret--our mutual schedules kept us from catching up most of the con. If humanly possible I'll volunteer for programming--and Fast Track programming--again next year. I had to let being on panels go this year. One particular commen from me: Hilary Scott's foam dragon panel--and the dragon created therein--was absolutely awesome. This was a perfect panel for a room-ful of kids. Cutting along the lines was a great independent-yet-cooperative activity. I was blown away by the dragon that emerged. Truly cool! Kudos for a perfect synergy of kids' programming and the Artist GoH.

Does anyone else have Fast Track feedback that they'd like to post here? [As seems customary, if you've seen or made a post on the subject, cross-referencing it in a comment here seems apropos].

I had a great time at Arisia this year, but I was unable to attend any of the Art Track panels.

Did anyone in this community make it to "Bizarre Polymer Clay Techniques" or "Knittly, Stitchly, Quiltly"? Would you please tell me a little bit about them?

This image is from Arisia '01, the artist Wojtek Suidmak's "The Greedy Look".

Thanks!

Thanks to all the concom, staff & volunteers for putting in so much work. I'm sure moving to a new hotel was a major hassle in just about every way, and your efforts are even more appreciated since things were more difficult/new than they used to be. See you next year!

First of all I must say that every Arisia I find it a pretty lonely convention, since everyone is caught up in their own circle of friends. It is hard to get in. Not this year! I didn't even get to do anything because I was having sooo much fun meeting people! Which is weird because of the hotel size, people tended to be more spread out, but anyways. I think people were a lot more friendly this year.

I do have 2 little things. First of all, I found a duck. I went to the Dealer's Room 3 times but the person at the door didn't know anything about the "find a duck, win a prize" deal :( What was up with that, what was I supposed to have won?

I have heard this time & time again & I don't know how to fix this. The Rocky Horror show. Great. Love that it is there. The crew is great. The audience is not. What can be done to stop people from screaming out at the top of their lungs callbacks. Now I have been to Rocky a few times at Arisia & I can never get past the Time Warp because of the terrible headache that I got by everyone screaming around me. Now there are callbacks & then there are obsure callbacks that no one knows & you are just saying that to be heard. STOP. It doesn't make the show fun to watch.
