Thanks to all!
Jan. 20th, 2014 11:29 pmI just wanted to thank everyone involved. It was a great con, and has been all these twenty-five years. It was great to see so many old friends, and to make new ones.
I just wish I didn't have to wait a year until the next one! Am I the only one who'd move to Arisia like a shot, if it were a country instead of a convention?

Date: 2014-01-21 04:12 pm (UTC)I could imagine living in a Fannish Village, provided it had public transit, was close to a park and/or a body of water, and within, or close to a Major Eastern City. Many fans have a good income base to make a group move to such a place possible. I personally would need affordable housing, and many fans would need disability accessibility. In exchange, I could perform some kind of local outreach and help manage the neighbourhood's psychic aura. If someone asked, I could help with design of public spaces, houses or street layouts. I don't know if Fanhaven ever came to fruition in Arizona, but the idea is not new.
With our large Jewish population, we could call it KIRIAS FIAWOL.

Date: 2014-01-21 05:12 pm (UTC)And friends have talked about creating a club or pub something where fen could go. It could have panels, events, movie nights, that sort of thing...sort of like Arisia, but more spread out over time.
Oh well. Maybe there will be a retirement home like that, when my time comes.
