Programming for Arisia '06

As I drafted a note to the brainstorming mailing list, memories of this community drifted through my head. So I'm letting you know as well.

This Friday (9/9) and next Friday (9/16) from 7:30 until 10, the Arisia '06 Programming folks are gathering to look through all the panel ideas that have come up on the brainstorming list. We'll be polishing them and entering them into the programming database. If you have ideas and want to see them happen, we'd love to hear from you. If you want to volunteer, we'd love to have your assistance. (Credit toward free membership can be arranged for data entry.)

I'd say, that the first thing I need is to know who you are and to have a way to get in touch with you. The next thing I'll need to know is how you want to help. Do you want to join brainstorming? Do you want to help enter data on Friday?

I think so. I heard mention of it just a few days ago.

Here is the plan: We are taking the ideas we have a putting them in a database (which is new!). From there, we'll be generating a web page of the current panel ideas. When that is ready, I'll repost here with the link and ask for comments, tweaks, missed ideas, etc.

I didn't get to the poetry stuff for this year during my vacation from school and I start again tomorrow. I really don't have the brains for doing it this year. If anyone wants to take over poethry idea stuff for this year that would be great. I still want to be on the panels but am overloaded otherwise.

Check last year's. We did a lot of work to set things up for last year except that we got stuck in odd places on the rooms.

Well, since I don't know what panels are being considered... how about a panel titled: Special Effects for LARPS. It would be about how and what to use for FX in LARPS, whose needs/concerns are very different than plays and movies.

who do i talk to to get a LARP run at Arisia? we hav ea game that has run at Intercon and we would liek ti to run at Arisia this coming year.

also do you have any non-boffer LARP panels? theater stile stuff? etc? if not, there should be...

I'd be happy to pass your LARP ideas on. I believe David picked a LARP coordinator, but I'm just not sure who it is.

As for panel ideas, I'd love to see a few non-boffer panels. Did you have anything specific in mind? It has been so long since I've larped, that I'm completely out of touch.

ok, cool. we have a Vorkosigan LARP(based LMBujold books, theater style game) for 21 players. it is a 4 hour game, it needs onelarge room with electric outlet, ability to dimm lights and some tables/chairs, and another space, somethign anythign we can use as "outside".

as for panel- over the past few years i hav egone to several LARP panels at Arisia, and they all ahve been Nero/realms/etc boffer games. which are great, and i play and all, but ther ehsould be variety :) i think a panel discussing how theater-style larps work, different kinds of conflict resolution, etc could be cool...
