Drum and Dance at Arisia

Friday Jan 14^th 8pm-11pm

       Come and spend a few hrs Drumming and dancing with us in an open circle to kick off Arisia 2011 in high gear. You don’t need to bring a drum to dance but if you have one bring it, or other interments, such as Zills, Tambourines, Shakers or even a pair of spoons, to join the fun. Than stay for the Ordnance & club dance spun by DJ Pet, immediately following.

I managed to loose my drumsticks. Will anyone be selling padded ones at the con? I have a rawhide drum that hurts my hands if I play for more than 20 mins.

I don't think zills and tambourines are a good idea. Too... noticeable for any one player, who may or may not have any rhythm.

I disagree, I think Zills and Tambourines or Riqs are fine for this drum circle. i have been to many drum circles and these instruments add an extra undercurrent of sound. it has a nice layering effect.

The three mods for this event have extensive drum circle experience and are able to assist less experience drummers in maintaining a basic beat. Also since this is a BYO I would hope that zillers and tambourine players are experienced enough to know how to play.
