Staff Massage Den

What worked? Were we open when you were needing bodywork? Was there too much of a line? Did you want more roaming service for people who wouldn't/couldn't leave their posts? Did you get a chance to be massaged? Who massaged you, and how was it? (Please email me privately if you're answering that question.)
Etc. Input greatly appreciated, which I hope to incorporate into my report in two weeks, and take into account when planning next year.

Just a thought for next year
Date: 2003-01-20 09:12 pm (UTC)Based upon this thread in somebody else's journal, we have a good portable humidifier of our own. Remind us of it before next con and we'll bring it for massage den to combat the too dry air.

Date: 2003-01-21 07:58 am (UTC)If you can get enough volenteers to handle some roving service that would be INCREADABLE!!!!
But I think maybe a better way to handle it would be some pre-con scheduleing. Especially for the Dept Head level and above. Get 'em scheduled and in before they crash.

Roaming service is a mixed blessing -- while one of the roaming folks made a flying visit through Program Ops, there were constant interruptions while she was trying to work a knot out of my neck, which meant that it was pretty mcuh impossible for her work to do much good.
Body work available on Thursday would be a really good idea for those of us who tend towards the "mostly on duty" mode; knowing that you were still around and doing massage on Monday would also have been a help. Pre-scheduled appointments might help; reminder notices about where the massage den is, what its hours are, etc., delivered to the staffed offices, etc., would also help.

Date: 2003-01-22 06:19 am (UTC)In general, I would suggest making your needs known. Leave your name, approximate time available, & contact info of some kind. I opened the massage den Thursday evening, and I closed it Monday afternoon. We'll work on being more organized and advertising more openly next year, but if it's something you want, I hope next year you'll be more vocal about it.
Ok... attempt to post message take 2
Date: 2003-01-22 07:00 pm (UTC)Next year we need to be alot better about communicating information to staff. Not just about your hours, there were many things we did for staff that not everyone knew were available.
There was a massage den? :)

Date: 2003-01-22 04:35 pm (UTC)The roving offers kept coming when I was down on the function-room floors, but when I was down there, I usually had three or four issues stacked up that needed solving and had to keep moving. I hope the roving offers were taken by people who couldn't get away from their work areas...
The midnight Saturday massage I had after the masquerade helped keep me going until about 5am... :-)
Thank you thank you thank you!
