Comments solicited.

What worked? Were we open when you were needing bodywork? Was there too much of a line? Did you want more roaming service for people who wouldn't/couldn't leave their posts? Did you get a chance to be massaged? Who massaged you, and how was it? (Please email me privately if you're answering that question.)

Etc. Input greatly appreciated, which I hope to incorporate into my report in two weeks, and take into account when planning next year.

Just a thought for next year

Which I was going to suggest to you at some point so it gets recorded and we don't forget.

Based upon this thread in somebody else's journal, we have a good portable humidifier of our own. Remind us of it before next con and we'll bring it for massage den to combat the too dry air.

i wanted to, but i kept not making it up there. when i wasn't working, i was otherwise distracted, so it's not so much a case of not being able to leave my post as just sort of flaking.

More roaming would be nice, I was chained to secuiryt desk until Sunday afternoon. But I had a nice massage about 1pm, thank you.

I was flaky too, like rmd. I did get a random massage one evening, but not from your staff! Heh. From three folks hanging about gopher hole.

It was wonderful, and a much needed service for the staff. Ok I must still be sleep deprived writing that has me thinking about "Bevis & Buthead" jokes.

If you can get enough volenteers to handle some roving service that would be INCREADABLE!!!!

But I think maybe a better way to handle it would be some pre-con scheduleing. Especially for the Dept Head level and above. Get 'em scheduled and in before they crash.

i attempted to find out where the massage den was to volunteer on friday
on three occasions, and nobody was sure, exactly where it was at the time
i asked. how weird is that? on saturday i got sucked into various cons
activities and knitting that i never got around to asking again, and only
saw you late saturday? and on sunday briefly i think. too late then, i
was a crispy critter.

The couple of times I got out of Program Ops long enough to visit the 15th floor, you weren't open.

Roaming service is a mixed blessing -- while one of the roaming folks made a flying visit through Program Ops, there were constant interruptions while she was trying to work a knot out of my neck, which meant that it was pretty mcuh impossible for her work to do much good.

Body work available on Thursday would be a really good idea for those of us who tend towards the "mostly on duty" mode; knowing that you were still around and doing massage on Monday would also have been a help. Pre-scheduled appointments might help; reminder notices about where the massage den is, what its hours are, etc., delivered to the staffed offices, etc., would also help.

I really wish I knew you had the extend hours this year. You actually would have seen me.... honest. I thought you closed at 9pm and I just couldn't work that into my schedule.

Next year we need to be alot better about communicating information to staff. Not just about your hours, there were many things we did for staff that not everyone knew were available.

There was a massage den? :)

I wasn't even aware it existed... heck, I would have helped out, if not with massage then with some Reiki sessions for anyone who needed one. :)

Perhaps for next year...

It was fab-u-lous. I'm very happy you were open late on Saturday, because Hotel Liaisons are generally unable to stop moving between 10am and 12midnight... really, I didn't slow down except to eat during those hours at the con, with the exception of a 10-minute quick-massage on Sunday because my back was hurting.

The roving offers kept coming when I was down on the function-room floors, but when I was down there, I usually had three or four issues stacked up that needed solving and had to keep moving. I hope the roving offers were taken by people who couldn't get away from their work areas...

The midnight Saturday massage I had after the masquerade helped keep me going until about 5am... :-)

Thank you thank you thank you!
