Some of you who live in the Greater Boston Area may be interested in one or more of the following:

a) independent (i.e. not con-related) Boston-area Steampunk Balls (following the general format of the one at Arisia)

b) smaller Steampunk gatherings with dancing, but not necessarily only dancing or primarily dancing

c) non-Steampunk themed historical dances, with many of the same dances, but more historical rather than fictional costuming

d) historical, costumed, dances and balls outside the GBA (like, Hartford, or New Haven, or New Jersey, or California...)

I had minions handing out fliers at the Ball, but had come unprepared for the wonderful turnout, and thus they ran out of fliers in the first 10-15 minutes.

If you're interested in any of the above, send email to michael AT vintagedancers DOT org, and let me know which ones you're interested in, and I'll add you to the appropriate mailing list.

You have my email now (I got an email from you with this info). Thank you for being so careful and making sure I got the message, though!

i think A and B would be great, and there's been talk in the past about doing something like this over at [livejournal.com profile] mass_steam. i just came back from the Edwardian Ball (http://www.edwardianball.com/index.html) in San Francisco, and i definitely think we need to get something going on like it here.

Also, been meaning to ask: What can we do to get you guys out the western mass way? I've had an eye on your events for ages, but travel is always an issue.

If has been a number of years since I last danced, so my feet did not quite remember where to go when and so I nearly did wondrous bad things during the Steampunk Polka. While your suggestions have merit, I would be more interested in what classes might exist to refresh my knowledge of social partner dancing (as opposed to the performance dancing that many dance studios used to teach (and may still do so, for all I know)).
