New Intercon E games open!
Nov. 30th, 2004 01:08 pmHello!
I hope everyone is having a great start to the holiday season, the
Intercon-E elves have been hard at work trying to provide you with
the best LARPing convention ever, and I am pleased to announce the
latest creations by the master toy-makers of Intercon-E. (aka the GMs)
In order to play in these wonderful games, you need to be a registered and paid member of Intercon E. You can accomplish this by going to the Intercon E website at http://www.interactiveliterature.org/E
Babylon 5: Turning Tides
It was a new age. It was the end of the beginning. The year is 2267.
In its fifth year the Interstellar Alliance and its member worlds -
Minbar, Centauri Prime, Earth, the Narn Homeworld - are still reeling
from conflict and civil war. As the great powers grow more insular,
the lesser races struggle to maintain some semblance of stability.
People facing uncertainty become afraid and frustrated. Frustration
and fear lead to discontent. From discontent lay the path of war...
This excellent offering by Janet Brennan and team will continue the
theme of "hard sci-fi" that I have been encouraging in our schedule,
it will be an 8 hour game that will occupy most of your Saturday from
breakfast to dinner, but well worth it for B5 fans and novices.
Please give it a look!
Between a Roc and a Hard Place
Two fairy-tale Baronies to be joined through matrimony, two betrothed
nobles who are forbidden from meeting by ancient law, one advisor who
mistakenly brings them together, a heaping spoonful of commoners, and
one mystical bird just for kicks…
Please join me in welcoming Colin Sandel as a first-time Intercon GM,
he joins us from the Washington DC where he has had a great success
there and now he is seeking to try his hand at a completely new
creation crafted specifically for our event. Welcome Colin, and we
hope to see you again!
Carry on at Camp David (Working Title)
It is the 17th November 1962, and the Cold War is at its height.
Throughout the USA, rumours of communist conspiracies abound. The
setting is Camp David, the US President's official rural retreat.
President Dwight Nixody has broken off trade negotiations to hold a
reception in honour of astronaut Buzz Leapyear who is to be presented
with the Congressional Medal of Honor. It is a relaxed, informal
occasion, and the speeches are expected to be kept short. The
President is also expected to make an announcement about the Statue
of Liberty replacement project, which has received much media
coverage of late…
Sue Lee; a member of the well-regarded "British contingent" of the
Intercon community brings us this "big party, with stereotyped
characters, lots of puns, running around being silly and shooting
each other; all whilst comparing their starsigns." How can I say
more? You need to play this game!
Feh!
Come polish your putdown skills: insult your friends, acquaintances,
and enemies with impunity... in persona, of course…
Christopher Buck (Death by Deatheast) brings us his experimental game
that will allow you to expel your inner frustrations in a completely
artificial environment. Come armed with your best insults and prepare
to be skewered!
It Happened This Way
War, war is Hell. Christmas is worse. It's probably Grandpa's last
Christmas, just like the last five years. Uncle Bill's been hitting
the Nog again. Ned from accounting is probably going to get that
promotion you've been waiting for. Molly brought her new boyfriend,
the one with all the tattoos and peircings. The backdoor is swinging
in the wind again because you took the doorstop/fruitcake and wrapped
it yet again. Aunt Matilda brought her annoying dog Pookie. The
potatoes are lumpy, the Tree is lopsided, and Santa's beard is as
fake as your smile. Merry Flippin Christmas. "It Happened This Way"
is a game about Christmas Cheer, Egg Nog, and the capricious nature
of memory. Join your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers in a
Christmas Party to remember.
Join Shaughn Bryant and his demented crew fresh off of the set of
Intercon-D's Three Nations game for a cross-genre comedy that is too
close to reality for comfort!
Mega Man: Apocalypse
Disaster strikes at the 5th Annual Robot Design Competition and World
Peace Conference! Aliens have destroyed Mars Base and are on the way
to Earth, broadcasting a mysterious signal that drives robots
berserk! Can the survivors of the chaos at the conference work
together long enough to put things right?
Join me in welcoming Chris Walsh & Beth Baniszewski from the MIT
Assassins' Guild. They bring us another sci-fi offering involving
robots, aliens and mayhem. Chris is a long-time tabletop GM writing
his first LARP and has been playing in LARPs for six years. Beth has
written and run three games over the past three years, one of which
is running at this Intercon (Two Hours in London).
Anna Bradley
GM Coordinator and outreach monkey Intercon-E
