I know that there are restaurants listed in the con booklet thingy. Does anyone know if take out is listed (I don't remember there being any listed.)? If not since the Hyatt is so far away from eating places and the transport is infrequent (At least in comparison to the Park Plaza.) could take out places be listed this year in the booklet? If that is not possible at this juncture can anyone recommend good take out places that deliver to the Hyatt? Does anyone know if whoever arranged for the food carts outside is going to arrange for them again? Those were a great idea.

Does anyone know if the monogamy panel is happening this year? It happened 2 years ago and I found it enjoyable. I am not a panelist so I cannot check on Zambia.

Monogamy in contrast to the Polyamory panel?

I second, third and whole fully support this.

I'd be very interested in seeing how other Mono's deal with a "culture" that has so many Poly's. Poly is something I do not understand and probably never will, it is not being ignorant, or otherwise, It just is not in any form my cup of tea, nor will it ever.

So, While I don't have any "problems" with poly, us mono's need some love :) As long as the Mono panel isn't a bunch of Poly's questioning Mono's beliefs I'm cool with that. I'd be interested to see how other Mono's get through it :)

lol :) Sounds interesting then! I have lots of poly friends, and being bi-sexual (for real real, not for play play :P) I kinda teeter in some weird area, but Mono is something I can't shake.

Its always interesting to learn about others, even if we choose otherwise.

I always love learning from others :)

It's in Zambia. I hope it gets scheduled too. We poly people get all the love! ;-)

My understanding from the last conCom (these are open to anyone who wants to show up...hint, hint) is that the food carts/trucks will be there again next year as will the hotel's inside food cart/tables. This is in addition to the restaurant's food offerings.

As for the request about take-out places, you might want to send email to pubs [at] arisia (dot) org and suggest it to the publications people; I don't recall who is doing the food guide but that address should (eventually) reach them.

I haven't really shown up to the conComs. I will make an effort to this year.

In the interests of full disclosure, I should point out that showing up at a conCom often results in someone attempting to enlist your help with the convention itself (aka volunteering you). However, these someones are relatively well-behaved and a simple, "No but thanks" should suffice. :-)

I'm head of publications, and will pass on this request about take-out info to my head of Restaurant Guide. I don't know if it's too late to include it, however, as we're running up against deadlines for the pre-con publications. So I promise nothing other than that I'll pass it along, and if nothing else, we're in plenty of time for the following year's con. ;)

Last year there was the Monogamy Meet 'n' Greet, but no panel per se. That said, it was a fun time, even if [small list of gripes that have already been aired to the appropriate people]. :)

There were some non-monogamous people there, but that's mainly because it was held in the Con Suite, where just about everyone walked by and pulled up a chair. That said, the wording means it all - "Meet & Greet" means it's for monos only, whereas a panel means come one, come all, and talk about what it means to be monogamous in a mostly poly society! That, I think, deserves a panel.

The monogamy panel is on the list of panels for consideration by panelists, and I believe it has received interest.

Next time you're in the part of the city with the Park Plaza in it, looking for cheap food, walk over to Chinatown. It's just a few blocks east - maybe a 10 minute walk to plentiful, cheap, good food.

Not sure about breakfast near the Park Plaza other than Au Bon Pain on the same block - but that hardly qualifies as "cheap, good food". I've seen some bakeries in Chinatown which have breakfast-like breads and such.

You can find a copy of last years' restaurant guide for the food near the Hyatt at: http://2007.arisia.org/files/arisia/Arisia-Restaurant-GuideCropped.pdf

It listed which places had take out and delivery services. The Restaurant Guide for A'08 should have similar listings.

We'll also have a shuttle bus running from the hotel to Central Square (and the overflow hotel), so you can have easy access to lots of good restaurants.

Anybody can read Zambia: go to http://two-step.netbusters.com/~trg/arisia08/ and put in the info for the "brainstorm" view. That won't let you edit or vote on anything, but you can see the list of proposed panels.
