okay, all you poetry-writin' freaks out there... give us your best shot: summarize Arisia in a haiku. you don't have to stick to the 5-7-5 form but it should be an accepted form of haiku (intentionally left vague, since i never remember the others).

no prizes for the winners. :)

Overnight security
Too tired to move

About to fall asleep -
Fire alarm - down 15 flights!
Then we heard, "All clear."

Opportunity -
Gorgeous woman in my bed
Sleep demands instead

Freaks, Fans, Filkers, too
All together in a stew
Some showered - too few.

(ok, the last one is one too many syllables on the last line. oh well. So does "Arisia" have three or four syllables? I think three, but just checking.)

I've heard with with 3 or 4. In poetry and song you can get creative in how many syllables a word has.

Air dry as a bone
I cough and lose my voice
Yet I have fun.

Wind cuts and snow falls
Inside, Molly Zenoba
Dresden Dolls rock out.

Gears and wires twist.
A wishbone pulls a tower.
Chair bounces off cat.

Walking down the hall.
Hesitating -- through the door.
The whole room -- orange.

"Glories of Steam" dance:
Victorian garb with lights
Uniforms with gears.

Yahoos with big swords
Read medieval sword books:
Now, yahoos with skill!

(The Autumn Tree Armored Combat company has gotten steadily better every year I've seen them, because they've been working with various medieval manuals and are actually learning how to do this stuff well. But they're still crazy people who like to dress up in armor and bash each other with swords. They just do it a lot more impressively now.)

Arisia, in 17 syllables [1]
bitter winter wind
fails to obscure happiness
memories are fond

I'm not a poet, but here's one with lightness, simplicity, openness, & depth:

Arisia over
Hair like freshly mown kittens
And I am not it.
