Well, that's a bit disappointing.

Boston Globe this morning, City & Region section.
A single photograph with a caption of a woman dressed as Princess Leia. No article I could find, no other pictures.

Oh contraire; it's a fine source of yellow journalism, and makes great dunnage when shipping packages.
I had a chat with a Glob photographer once and the degree to which they live in another world is astonishing. They really think they're second only to god.
And the Herald is a slightly better option only because one can never take a tabloid seriously.

Speaking as someone who has been a professional in the field, the Globe is, in my opinion, one of the best urban newspapers in the country.

(You have your opinion. That's cool).

In general, everyone hates their local paper anyway.

Of course I am liberal, so I like the Globe, though I read the Herald more fully.

Wonder what the herald would have done with it? ;)

Wow someone is a little bitter...

Guess the Herald is a better option?

I ran into the Leia at the con. If I remember correctly, she was a very good-looking one too!

Actually I'm surprised. The caption was much longer than I was expecting.

The press is famous for shooting pictures and interviewing for hours, but only using one photo and a single line.

At least it has enough info, that if someone were curious about Arisia, they can find us.

bummer

Less than what folks might have wanted, but at least they were there and it did see print.

That caption is a short article, and pretty amusing at that. I think it's nice coverage.

The article was amusing enough that I don't have a problem with it. Most people won't see it, and will never want to see it. The people who do will be there next year, and the rest of the world... well, we wouldn't need cons if the rest of the world were worth spending much time in.

It may be short, but it's fairly reasonable coverage. Did you want a 4-page in-depth expose, really ?

Ever hear the phrase "When a dog bites a man, that is not news, because it happens so often. But if a man bites a dog, that is news." (Attributed to John Bogart, a New York Sun editor.) A fan in a snarky tshirt standing outside the bathroom isn't really news; Princess Leia, on the other hand, is.

Also, news photographers often go for the quantity over quality photography method. If you shoot 300 photos, a few of them are bound to be good. It may be that this was the most interesting of the good ones.

Since the Globe sent a photographer, you had to assume there would be a photo, maybe two, and a cutline.

Reporters and photographers operate separately, except at much smaller papers.

I think we oughta be pleased.

Oh, that's where it was... I kept looking for it in Living/Arts.
