The convention must be over. I pressed the elevator call button and the elevator arrived instantly, and it was empty!

Thanks to everyone who helped put on the convention, and to everyone who came to the convention. We need both to have a good Arisia.

We've added forums to the Arisia website. Please use them to discuss what you thought about Arisia '07, and to discuss some of the panels at Arisia.

Thanks for a great con! Hopefully we learned a few things about the hotel to improve next years.

PS: I mentioned it in another post, but http://2007.arisia.org/forum/21, and http://2007.arisia.org/forum/23 say "You are not allowed to post a new forum topic." People might not be able to leave feedback.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Those fifty minute panels are so short, and I just have to get back into the questions!!! ;p

It was a fun con, elevators aside. (Though not far aside--a con of--what, 1500 people--can't operate with only twenty eight able to be moving up and down at any given time without being on the stairs.) I think the Sheridan downtown, by the Hynes Convention Center, might be worth a look. You can get all around Copley Square without going outside, including much cheaper eats.

The Sheraton, unfortunately, was quite booked by the time Arisia found out that they weren't going to get the Park Plaza this year. All available options were compromises and the Hyatt was actually the best of the lot. It is nearly impossible to schedule an event like Arisia into a hotel in Boston on 11 months' notice.

Actually, only 6 to 21 people at a time. (One elevator didn't work at all over the weekend, others failed intermittently; and sometimes there were elevator party hosts, so the elevators could carry only six actual passengers, but at least the risk of them failing from overload was lowered.)

You need a login to the Arisia site (and possibly another level of permissions) to create a forum topic, but anyone should be able to post to the topics I've just created on Ben's forum pages.

Yeah I was logged in. There are forms to add to topics that exist, but one couldn't add a new topic, which made the feedback sections mostly-useless.

Until we figure out what permissions we need to reset to let logged in people make a forum, I've made a thread at the comments forum (http://2007.arisia.org/forum/21) for topic requests and problems with the forum. That's just a temporary workaround.

I don't know if it's just me, but I can no longer log in with my program participant ID. And the site seems to have forgotten my email address as well, when I try to use the "forgot your password?" option (although I didn't forget it, actually).

The www.arisa.org site uses a different login etc than the programming database application. Please register as a new user there! But you don't have to do that to write to the forum threads, I believe they are publically writeable.

Thank you for everything you did.

My wife and I had a great time, and so did most of the people I have talked to.

I have been to all the Arisias so far. This was a good Arisia, not the best but far from the worst. Yes, the elevator situation was annoying, I think if the dealer's room and art show had not been on the top floors, while everything else was on the lowest 3 floors, things would have gone MUCH better. And yes, I do understand the physical set-up of the hotel that forced that configuration, but I still wonder if having the larger panels on the upper floors instead of the dealers and art show would have worked better (or at least be less stress on the elevators). Only Luke Ski's concert and the masquerade really had to be on the first floor due to logistics.
