Anyone mind telling me what technology is used for the Arisia feedback forms? I'm running Firefox 9 on OS X and the page is entirely blank.

Hello Arisia!

I'd like to thank everyone who attended the con for making it amazing as always, but special thanks go out to those who attended my first reading from my sci-fi/fantasy workplace romantic comedy novel, Tales from the Securemarket. We filled the room and I was thrilled. I know I gained at least a few new readers, and it was great to read alongside the likes of Tim Lieder and Mark Amidon.

I do, however, have an embarrassing correction to issue. You may have seen a flyer for the reading posted around the con featuring the art of LB Lee. In it, I linked to their site at healthymultiplicity.com, but I made a typo that causes my listed URL to link to a 404.

Check your receipts!

I'll talk about Arisia awesomeness (and some non-awesomeness) later, but for now: if you were as busy as I was yesterday and didn't check your receipt from the hotel, you should do that. We were erroneously charged* for parking for both of our rooms, which isn't insignificant, as the parking charge is $33/day. Check your receipt and give them a call if they've done the same to you!


* erroneously charged = we didn't have a car, and were charged anyway.

Home again and missing the tribe. Arisia was a great time this year! I'll post a more detailed collection of thanks, regrets and anecdotes later.  For now, thanks to everyone who made this another grand con experience!

Wi fi

As I was using the Wi fi set up at the Westin it occured to me how is it legal for the Westin
(or any hotel) to black access to my cell phone service, cell phone service and a data
plan that i pay for myself?  I know the hotel has their own wi fi set up and their own
phone system in the rooms but this is a service i've contracted for and pay to my
cell phone carrier each month.  

Didn't the FCC make it illegal to block cell phone service?

Blood Drive Update

There was a question about the norovirus. Everyone who gave blood should have gotten some kind of number to call if they gave blood and then came down with any "flu-like symptoms." If you gave on Saturday and then got sick, call Mass. General Hospital (MGH), if you gave on Sunday call Children's Hospital Boston. DO NOT call the Red Cross, they were not involved in the Blood Drive.
