Help build DNA LEGO kits for Boston Public Schools!

Since a lot of Arisia folks are interested in science education, I thought this might be for interest. This work session is part of a larger project that has been going on for several months to prepare teaching materials for the Boston public schools. If you can help, please contact Kathy directly, her email is below.

Kathy Vandiver of the MIT Edgerton Center Outreach Program and the MIT
Museum needs volunteers to help prepare tRNA LEGO kits for Boston
Public Schools!

A number of LEGO kits still need to be constructed for several
different genes to have materials ready for an upcoming project
deadline. This job will require a little Bio brain cell activity!
And some Krazy Glue, which will be provided!

What: Assembly of LEGO tRNA molecules

When: Monday, March 21, 2011 @ 6:00 - 9:00 pm

Where: 56-202 (CEHS conference room)

Please e-mail: kathymv@mit.edu

There will other work sessions in the future as Lego DNA sets are assembled for other area school districts. There are a works sessions scheduled on April 2, 2011 through People Making Difference, an organization that assembles groups of volunteers to provide manpower for Boston-area non-profit organizations. To sign up for the April 2 session, go to www.pmd.org for information.

Hi,
My understanding is that when a con is a 501C3 charity (as most are) and one attends as significant volunteer or staff, one's travel and hotel expenses are deductable on fed. and state income tax returns.  Do others concur?  If so, how to people handle the receipt issues when such costs are shared?
