Hello everyone,

For those of you who came to either of my panels on Sunday, thank you! The format was a bit different than what I usually do... typically it's a single hour long talk with no demos. This time around I split it up into 2 parts and tried to do as much hands on stuff as fire codes and general safety would allow!

As I mentioned in both panels, the videos of the talk and are now up online, along with the slides I was showing.

[livejournal.com profile] con_or_bust assists fans of color to attend SFF conventions, principally WisCon. It's administered by the Carl Brandon Society, which gave its awards at Arisia this year, and run by yours truly (more information). We are currently exploring whether to add Arisia to the cons that we regularly assist people to attend.

To that end, if you are a person of color who wanted to go to Arisia this year but couldn't for financial reasons, please go to this post and leave a screened comment so that I can gauge interest. Comments on this post are closed to keep everything in one place and to maintain confidentiality.

(And for everyone: Con or Bust runs a yearly auction of Very Cool Stuff—your name in a novel, custom-written prose or poetry, signed books, cookies, podfic readings, jewelry, and so forth. Bidding on this year's auction starts Monday, February 21, 2011, at 12:01 a.m. EST (GMT -5) and ends Sunday, March 6, 2011, at 11:59 p.m. EST, but you can list items now. See the announcement post for more information.)

Just got around to postprocessing and posting all of my videos of Goli's performance at Arisia 2011, Sunday evening in Commonwealth C. Lighting was rather low, which made the video quality not great. I made the videos somewhat brighter, which overall I think is better, but it makes the visual fuzziness much more apparent. They sound pretty good, though.

If you missed it (or if you saw it, and like them), your next chance to see Goli is tomorrow night at Club Passim, along with Molly Zenobia and Box Five - both of which are bands Valerie from Goli plays cello in. It'll be an excellent show, and a rare one at an all-ages venue (which makes two weekends of all ages Goli shows in a row :). Click for more about the other two bands.

BTW, if you went to any of the non-dance music programming at Arisia this year, what did you think of Commonwealth C? Both as a choice location, and how it was set up.
