It's time for another good voucher that might be of interest to Arisia attendees. Groupon is offering $20 for $40 of food/drinks at Tavern on the Square.

Tavern on the Square's location in Central Square is about half a block north of the shuttle drop off in Central Square. If you decide to check out [livejournal.com profile] pandemonium_bks during the convention (as well you should!), you'll pass the restaurant while walking the block to the store.

Tavern on the Square does an excellent Sunday brunch, and other meals are also excellent. This voucher will easily feed 2 for brunch or dinner, and likely 3-4 depending for lunch.

The voucher needs to be purchased by Midnight, EST, Monday the 11th, when it will be removed and a new one will be posted. Groupon has a strict 24-hour offer system.

For those of you who have not purchased through groupon, I have bought a fair bit through them; they are a *very* reliable site, which has provided excellent service and great vouchers. I've never had any problem redeeming their vouchers, the companies that I take them to are surprisingly happy to get them. I will be happy to answer what questions I can.

ETA: it was pointed out to me that if you are not in the area, but have been to groupon, following the link above will take you to your local site. If it does, the selection is available through 'Other Cities' and 'Boston'.

Good Morning folks,

So is everyone ready to gather more pics for the flickr group?

See all the shutterbugs at the con. And those willing to have their pictures taken as well of course.

We are experiencing high pre-registration this year, and want to make sure that folks don't arrive at the hotel without registrations if we reach the membership cap. If you know that you're planning to come to Arisia this year, it is best to pre-register, even though there's less than a week to convention.

Preregistration will close on Wednesday, January 13th at 4 pm, after which point we will post at the Arisia site how close we are to the cap. This will hopefully allow everyone to make appropriate plans.

Hi folks,

Sadly I won't be able to attend this year, and I'm hoping someone would like to take my membership off my hands! Asking $35, paypal please. Leave a comment or email: emailjessu at yahoo dot com.

I'm bummed to be missing out, but looking forward to 2011 already!

Pending sale! ;)

ETA: This year's summit expeditions are officially dedicated to Sesame Street, currently in its 40th(!) season. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, even though I didn't use 'em. :) And it's definitely too late to change it now because I've already made all the signs. Phew!

As y'all know by know, this is Arisia's final year at the Hyatt Regency which means the final year of Mt. Arisia. To commemorate this, there will be *three* (3!) summit expeditions. Note that these will all begin on the half-hour:

Friday 7:30p-8:30p
Saturday 2:30p-3:30p
Sunday 11:30a-12:30p

Meet at the far end of the programming hallway on the first floor. There will once again be a special ribbon for all successful climbers as well as stickers for each successive climb. Given three hours of the event, I suspect [livejournal.com profile] jcholewa's overall record of 21 could fall, though he might just keep the Summits-Per-Hour title.

The 2008 climb was dedicated Sir Edmund Hilary and the 2009 to Patrick McGoohan, both of whom passed away in early January of the respective years. If you have any ideas for a theme this year (doesn't have to be a dead person or even a person at all), please let me know ASAP. (My current thought is Sesame Street's 40th Anniversary.)

When you get to the top, be sure to take some time to enjoy the art show!

[Also, even with our dedicated, acclimatized staff, the Summit could use a few more hardy volunteers. If you are interested in helping out with this event or anything else at the con, sign up at the Arisia web site.]

ETA: For those who aren't familiar with it, Summit Mt. Arisia is a non-competitive event to help promote stair-awareness and get people to the art show. You start on the first floor and climb to the 16th, where you receive a ribbon as a badge of honor as well as the knowledge of where the stairs are so that you can keep using them all weekend. Each iteration runs for an hour, so even at a very slow pace, there's plenty of time. It's only the crazy people who keep going up and down and up and down.

Thanks to LJ user selkiechick, who did the braille formatting and embossing, you can find the following materials at the Info Desk:

8 Braille programs- based on the pocket guide. Each Program will exist of 4 "volumes", one for general information, and one each for Friday, Saturday and Sunday Monday.
1 Braille Restaurant Guide
3 Braille copies of the Hotel Menus, 1 full set for the info desk, 1 set for the Hot dog cart, 1 set for the vendors behind the Escalators, and set for the restaurant (these will all be appropriately sorted- restaurant menus to restaurant, a la carte menus for the other stops)
1-2 Braille copies of the shuttle schedule- for the Information desk
a signup sheet for the Masquerade- to be brought to the information desk.

All Braille will be labelled for sighted people, to facilitate its distribution.

The large print programs will also be available at the Info Desk, along with a baggie of binder clips in case they are needed.

Thanks to everyone who has sent me notices regarding the spammers.

I check the site just about every day and of course, the moment I went out, we got hit with one.

It has been removed and reported. I have also changed comments to be allowed by community members only for now. I am sorta on the fence about moderating who joins but perhaps that can be an option later down the line if it gets worse.

Hopefully this will be the last of it. :)
