Out of ignorant curiosity, what would people think of Arisia as a venue to hold an informal dating auction? I know it's extremely cheesy and kind of ridiculous! That's what makes it great, don't you think? :)

(I'm also only on my third year of Arisia attendance, so I'm wondering if it's been thought of or tried, before.)

You know what I'm thinking of, right? Pre-screened con-goers of both sexes get up on stage and an auctioneer reads a bit about them, their personality, likes/dislikes, a really brief 2 minute overview kind of thing. The person being auctioned could say a bit about themselves, display a talent, whatever they wanted. The bidding begins at a reasonable price, say the cost of dinner and a movie and goes up from there.

Holding it on an early night of the con could give the winners and their dates a chance to really chat in a safe environment before agreeing to anything outside of the con. Heck, the people being auctioned could even go by nicknames to avoid internet tracing, just to add another level of safety to it from the get-go.

Sure, there are faults and holes to my plot, but that's why I'm curious to hear your thoughts!
