I noticed that one of the panels listed in Zambia is "The Writers' Strike and Fandom." Potential panelists for this topic (and anyone else who's interested) should know that there's going to be a WGA fan support rally in Cambridge on Friday, December 14th. It seems like something that would feed directly into the panel discussion. Details are available here:

My Fellow Arisians,

I am pleased to say that we are nearly finished with preliminary scheduling. We had nearly a dozen people put in many hours at Jill's house yesterday and thanks to a lot of hard work, we've got something looking pretty good.

There are a couple of new things that we are doing this year. We will have one debate panel asking the question of "Which had more influence on society: Star Wars of Star Trek?" This will be a classic style debate with two people on each side and a moderator. This is an experiment and if it works out, there will be more debates next year.

We will also be running programing later this year. We have less space, so we shall expand in time. Many people at Arisia are up late anyway, so we night owls should have something to do. While the bulk of programing will still run at traditional times, we will be running at least some programing through 4 AM each night. This is also a bit experimental, but given the nocturnal nature of many Arisia attendees, I have confidence that we will see some excellent panels in the dark of night.
