So, The ducks should be arriving by US Post sometime today or tomorrow. And in light of this, I am going to hold a duckorating party to get a whole bunch of them prettied up before Arisia. So here's the details:

When: Sunday, January 8th 12:00-5pm
Where: My house. (If you don't know where that is, post a comment with your email address and I will give you directions.)
Why: To decorate rubber duckies for the Arisia Ducky Hunt.
Details: I will provide some munchies and a bit to drink as well as Sharpies, nail polish, scrap fabric, and ducks. If you have other ideas on how you want to decorate, just bring the supplies along.
Warnings: We are not a baby or childproofed house. If you plan to bring a kid, please act responsibly in keeping track of their activities. We have 3 rabbits, one of whom is aged and a bit frail. Please medicate if you are allergic and understand that we ask you to respect the rabbits' space and their needs for a comfortable and reasonably quiet home.

Additional information: This has now become an official Arisia event. That means I'm going to be getting some funding. But if people who offered to contribute are still interested, I could use a bit more money to cover the prizes. (Which will total about $50.) So if you want to chip in a couple bucks, please bring it with you to the party.

Because we have to backup the data to bring the reg system to BPP, online registration will be closing around 10am (Eastern) on Thursday, 1/12/06. If you don't register by then, don't panic. :) The price is the same at the door so just show up and we'll register you at the con!

Thanks,
Lisa and the Registration Staff

You're awesome. Seriously. I think panels will be 100% better this year because of it.

i need help!

i've never been to Arisia before. i'm not very familiar with Boston. my friend and i are coming in from NYC friday (the 13th) night, first dropping off stuff at a friend's dorm at MIT... so my first question is, how do you get from MIT (Random House) to the con hotel? what train, and then what direction from there? how long does it take? is there anything important i should know (about the trains, the hotel, whatever)?

second question: do the trains stop running at any point? in other words, if we want to go back to the dorm at 3 AM, will we be able to get there (and safely)?

food! where do con-goers usually eat?

i'm also a bit worried because i've never been in control of the logistics of going to a con... how exactly does registration and everything work? is it better to register online or should i just do it there? will we be totally confused (i get confused easily)?
basically what i need is a "Going to Arisia for Dummies" book.

if you answer any of these questions i will be deeply in your debt. thank you, and seeya folks at Arisia (if i don't get lost on the way).
