sometimes it seems like panels are created to fill a void that nobody else is filling with contents. the inverse of the problem. there's so many hours and they have to be filled...
but this year, it was just like gah! all these dating/lifestyle/relationship panels. and i'm making these titles up (humor!) but my impression was "monogamy isn't BAD", "polyamory for the masses", "how to survive 3 breakups in one day", "NRE for newbies", "so my wife's girlfriend's mistress's slaves met each other's concubine and wrote some stories...", "rocket fuel 101", "aol aol", ... oiy :) it was ... overwhelming almost and i did NOT attend any of those and after filtering them out, with the dearth of sci movies and anime i wanted to see, had a lot more time to socialize with people and hang in the hall to see who came by - not a bad way to have a con sometimes.
