At this ConCom, in addition to hearing updates from our Division Heads and available job listings, we'll be going over the results of the Registration LARP we conducted at the previous meeting and then walking everyone through the meetings, deadlines, and expectations between now and Day 1 of Arisia 2017!

First Arisia 2015 Convention Committee coming up!

Just a reminder:

The first Convention Committee meeting for Arisia 2015 will be Thursday, April 3rd, at 7pm at the Fox Branch of the Arlington Public Library. (https://www.robbinslibrary.org/about/fox_branch)

We'll have a brief orientation led by Staff Services following the meeting. Hope to see many of you there!

ConComm Meeting!

Our fall kickoff convention committee meeting, open to all interested Arisians, is on Sunday September 8th at the Westin Waterfront Hotel in the Stone meeting room. If you are interested in participating this year, this is a good way to find out what we are up to.

Following the 1pm Concomm meeting, the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) will be running a training session intended for all of Arisia's interested participants. The presentation is Sexual Assault 101. Facilitators will be speaking about the prevalence of sexual assault, its impacts, and what perpetration looks like. It's a fantastic framework for new individuals, and it's information we would like all Arisia participants to have access to. Even if you have attended a prior BARCC talk, we ask that you consider joining us for this informative presentation by volunteers of BARCC.

Arisia ConCom Meeting on May 7

Make plans to join us Tuesday May 7th at 7pm at the NESFA Clubhouse for the Arisia May meeting of the convention staff and interested volunteers for 2014. We'll be discussing plans for Arisia 2014 including new staffing. More details are here including agenda. If you'd like to volunteer for something this year, this is a good time to talk to people about it.

Concom & Volunteer meeting 10/2 (next Tuesday)

The next open Arisia volunteers meeting will be Tuesday October 2 at 7:30 pm at the NESFA clubhouse,
(NESFA, 504 Medford St Somerville, directions http://www.nesfa.org/clubhouse/location.html).

Meters on Medford St run until 8 pm, and you are reasonably likely to get a ticket if you do not feed the meter for the last half hour.

We will have Skype available; send your contact information to arisiaconv to be on the call.

Arisia Concom & Volunteer Meeting is this Sunday (9/9) at the Westin

Arisia's next general meeting, open to all will be on Sept 9 at 2:00 pm at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. Bring your friends! We'll have a raffle for all attending the meeting, see details below. Hope to see you there!

We will have an AUDIO-ONLY call on Skype If you would like to be invited to the call (the moderator will have to call you), add arisiaconv to your Skype contacts. Note that the Skype part of the meeting will start at approximately 2:35 PM.

Arisiai ConCom Meeting on Tuesday 6/28/2011

The June Arisia 2012 Con Committee meeting will be held at the NESFA Clubhouse, 504 Medford Street, Somerville, MA 02145. Day Tuesday, June 28th, 2011. Approximate start time: 7:00 pm.

Agenda: Continuing discussion of space allocation and various other convention-related issues.

Changed order of Arisia meetings on Saturday December 11th at Westin Boston Waterfront

The order of the ConCom and Corporate meetings on December 11th at the Westin Waterfront has been changed. Please see the details below. We will email the exact room location when we have it.

The next ConCom meeting for Arisia 2011 will be held on Saturday December 11 at 2 pm. This is a change of time from what was previously published.

There will be a tour of some areas of the hotel following at 3:30 pm or shortly thereafter. If there are specific areas you want to see, please email hotel@arisia.org, and we will see if the hotel can accommodate your request

The next Corporate meeting will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 4 pm (or after the ConCom meeting and hotel tour). A Budget Amendment for Arisia 2011 and a Grant Committee recommendation (to grant $4,000.00 to the Carl Brandon Society to support the 2008 and 2009 Parallax and Kindred awards, which will be presented at Arisia 2011) will be voted on at this meeting. The full text of the budget amendment and grant request are contained in the latest Mentor (http://corp.arisia.org/mentor).

There are also Conchair office hours in the hotel lobby from 11 am to 1 pm the same day.

Cancel concom in favor of memorial service

As I posted to the staff announcements list:

Many in the Arisia community, including myself, are also involved with
the SCA Barony of Carolingia. As the memorial for Marian of Edwinstowe
is this Sunday afternoon at 2 pm, I have decided to cancel the Arisia
concom meeting in favor of not making others or myself choose between
the two.

I will try to email in the next couple of days with regard to upcoming
schedule and topics to be discussed. In the meantime, be well, my
friends.

Arisia Concom Meeting: Saturday, April 24 2-4pm

The next ARISIA CONCOM meeting will be held this Saturday, April 24th, at 2:00pm at the Westin Boston Waterfront in the Douglas room on the Mezzanine level. The current agenda includes the introductions of the Division Heads appointed so far and a discussion of space allocation in the new hotel.

In addition, Saturday at 12:00pm (noon), previous to the meeting, there will be a guided tour of many of the function room spaces led by one of our contacts at the hotel. Due to a concurrent event not all of the function space is available, but several rooms will be. Seeing the spaces is good information (or refresher) for the space discussion to occur at the meeting, so everyone is encouraged to show up for the tour as well.

ConChair office hours will be held Saturday at 4:00pm, after the meeting. Please see http://2011.arisia.org/ for more information on ConChair office hours.

Attendees are encouraged to use public transportation - the "World Trade Center" stop on the Silver Line is directly next to the hotel. Pay parking is available at the hotel.

With many of the Div Heads now appointed, Saturday's meeting is a great time to jump in if you don't have a "job" for Arisia '11 yet. Plus there will be a raffle with prizes donated by our Writer GoH Kelley Armstrong and Webcomic GoH Shaenon Garrity!
