Thanks

We'd like to thank all our minions, er, volunteers, who helped make Arisia 2011 possible!

Glasses Donation at Arisia

A big Thank You to everyone who donated eyeglasses.  We collected 68 pairs of eyeglasses to donate to OneSight.

Each year, OneSight conducts Clinics in developing countries where doctors and trained volunteers provide free eye exams and recycled eyewear to thousands of people in need. Donated glasses are collected and are sent to a OneSight recycling center where glasses are cleaned, prescriptions are categorized and glasses are prepared to be hand-delivered during a Global Clinic.  For more information see OneSight.org.

Arisia 2010

Now that Arisia 2010 is over and everyone has returned home, I just wanted to thank everyone for making it a great con.   We had about 2416 memberships with 2307 actual attendees.  The staff worked hard including some people taking multiple jobs to make sure everything got done.  But we couldn't have done it without all the attendees too - volunteering, throwing parties, participating in panels & events, costuming, and so on.  These are all part of what makes Arisia great.  I had a great time and I hope you did too.  [Yes, the theme of this paragraph is "great."]

Of course, there is still some work to do.   Please get any outstanding expense reports to Jill.  We'd like to close the books as soon as possible.

Crystal will be sending out more information about the Staff Debrief including the suggested format for the Debrief notes.  The Staff Debrief will be on Sunday 21 February (the week after Boskone).

Which reminds me, if you regularly help out at Arisia and want to know what is going on with the ConCom you should consider joining the staff or staff-announce mailing lists.  Staff-announce usually just covers the really important stuff - meetings, hotel reservations, and the like.  Staff is more in-depth [edit 1/25: and automagically includes everything sent to staff-announce.]
