An Interesting Discussion Regarding Arisia

An interesting discussion between an Arisia newcomer / observer & someone who dismisses f&sf fandom in total - Weigh In, Have Fun! http://bit.ly/8Wt2d6

I agree, even though it is not explicitly listed as such, it does feel like it is a track...

It feels like a track because it kinda is. "Fan Interest" is a catch-all track that includes a whole bunch of things that don't necessarily fit anywhere else. For 2010, three tracks from the previous year were combined into one large track. Since the track did not have a well-defined identity, I tried to give it one. I'm the Track Manager for Fan Interest, and I definitely designed it with the idea of "Mini Tracks" in mind. The Poly and Adult mini-tracks are readily obvious. There was also one for SMOFing, Internet Culture, and General Geekery. So if you got the impression that there were little tracks within the track, it's because it was designed that way.
