To say that one option is more expensive than another is pretty much trivial in my mind.
Part of the equation is the cost of a room-night; jumping from $109 (I believe the room rate this year) to, say, $149 (the room rate Arisia might have to charge at a different venue) would be quite an impact on the total cost of the con for each con-goer.
On the other hand, a membership cap wouldn't be necessary in a larger hotel; I personally would have preferred Providence to another year in the Hyatt.
